The Internet may bring valuable comunication tools, but it also brings many threats. If you have sensitive information, someone may access it, whithout you knowing. Rohos Disk Encryption lets you protect that information, by creating hidden and protected partitions on your computer or on USB flash drives, which will be restritcted to Internet applications.

The setup file is 4 Mb large, which should not take long to download. The installation process is also fast, and you can run the application on operating systems from Win 2000 to Win 7, without needing top of the line hardware.

The application will protect the created partitions using an AES 256 bit encryption key. Although it sounds like something complicated, which requires a lot of knowledge, Rohos Disk Encryption focuses mainly on usability. Its features can be accessed fast with the aid of the hyperlinks, found on the interface. Each of them will bring up a small window, where you will only have to specify a folder or type a password.

A partition can be created or an existing one can be loaded, by clicking the appropriate hyperlink in the upper area of the main window. In either cases, a password will be required. If you create a new partition, you will have to type a new password and confirm it and if you load it at a later date, the application will ask for that password. The hyperlinks on the main area of the interface will let you perform certain actions like hiding a folder, changing the partition's password, creating a new partition on a flash drive, and others. If you choose to hide a folder, you will only have to specify its path in a separate window. The folder will be moved to the protected partition, which can be accessed normally in My Computer.

You can disconnect a partition at any time by clicking the Disconnect hyperlink in the upper area of the interface. This will save the partition as a file which can be loaded at a later time in order to reconnect it. There is no need to concern about data loss, although the application will warn you to close the files before disconnecting. It is possible to create multiple partitions and keep them all connected at the same time. They will be displayed as hyperlinks as well, in the upper right corner of the window. Another useful feature allows you to create a USB key. Just click the designated hyperlink in the main region of the interface, type a new password and it will be ready. If you are worried that you might lose or forget the password to a Rohos disk, the USB key will let you access it without providing the password.

Pros

Rohos Disk Encryption can protect sensitive data by moving it to a secure partition. You can save it just like a disk image, which can be mounted at a later date. All these and more can be done from a very easy to understand user interface.

Cons

The application does not make it clear how to close the files on a partition. The designated option is labeled "check disk" instead of "close files." Your sensitive data is safe with Rohos Disk Encryption. Using its easy to understand features, you can save it on a hidden partition, which will be protected with a strong encryption protocol.
